Viva la inspiration!

We have gotten some GREAT interviews with some amazing people. Its so inspiring to listen to creatives speak to what they love. The layouts are being primped and polished, and we’re riding a wave of motivation higher than ever. Our new, more legit, website will be launched over the next few days. We’ll continue to blog on here, but we want to display things that you can only do in an online format that are not quite possible in the tangible world. Did i mention how excited we are?!?! Not to mention that in TWO weeks, we’ll be on the other side of the world soaking in new experiences with loved ones, new and old.
I did want to mention that we met with an awesome artist a few days ago, Joe Ryckebosch, who will be featured in the June issue. You should definately check out his website for more of his work. If you live in the Portland area, he has some pieces hanging in Amnesia which makes it even more of a treat since you can sit there and knock back a pitcher of their delicious Desolation IPA! They dont bottle and distribute, but I was delighted to find out you can get some to go in a jar hahaha.

Amazing.

I have to admit that while we were always super duper excited about starting up Vivartisan, and even as we were contacting the artists we were so excited to talk about, we felt deep down we are going to achieve something truly special. We received so much love from people immedietly, that it inspired and encouraged us to continue on our mission to put something truly honest out there into the world. We are in the process of locking down content, editing articles and compiling media to display. Layouts are being designed, and there is much ado in our little world right now. We have so much adoration shooting out of our eyes and ears right now that we’re amazed. We are amazed by what inspires others, we are amazed at how it manifests within these mediums that can touch millions of people at the same time in a zillion different ways, we are amazed at the channels through which it does manifest itself. We are so in love with this world, and that is basically why we exist. Anyone willing to put themselves out there to be seen or heard is a hero in our books. So long as its honest and pure, there is not one who can deny its genious. Not something that has to be absorbed by the mind of a ’scholar’ or savant, but by anyone open to appreciate and accept things that they come across. We despise haters, snobs or anything negative. Everyone has these speed bumps that can sometimes come from nowhere and send you skidding to a stop face first, but in the end, those thing are what make you stronger. Negativity may taint what you’re trying to do, but it can never stop you as long as you’re clear on your intentions and have the passion to follow through. So to everyone who has had to endure their share of darkness, we love you and are so glad that you are here to still enlighten us with your art, whatever it may be, and however you want to shout it out!

Back to basics.

Good morning world. We hit a minor bump in the road yesterday, but we’re back on track and more focused than ever.
I had a lovely time last night interviewing Test Studios and checking out the amazing artwork they have created thus far. We discussed alot of exciting projects on the horizon and got to know more artistic and personal history that has influenced him, and the origins of Test Studios. His artwork is awe inspiring, working with mixed media to create stirring images and textured, with haunting stories behind them. There is so much depth and raw beauty in his work, there is no question that we will all be seeing alot more from Test Studios in the future. We will update with more information on upcoming shows where you can check it out in person in the following weeks to come.
Test Studios will be featured in our zine this summer, but until then, you can also check him out at his website.

Cult followers.

We are loving so many things coming out of Cult Hero Records. We just finished listening to the lovely music of beta.beta and the vote is in. We LUFF them! They have a beautiful sound that are making my teeth hurt with sweetness. Listening to beta.beta is like that favorite pair of jeans that have been worn and formed to fit you as though they were made for you. Theres comfort and classic beauty in their gentle style that draws you in immedietly.
Their own description from their myspace sums it up best. We cant wait to hear more from these amazing, beautiful ear love makers.
About beta.beta:
“beta.beta was formed in the summer of 2007 out of pure coincidence when parixit walked into the teashop that adelin was working at, and asked if she’d like to sing. she’d never been in a band before, and parixit was at that point without a project.
a pow-wow over ice cream and monster mix later led to the inception of beta.beta, a blend of sexy, wistful, fun, electronic beats and sounds mixed with parixit & adelin’s mutual desire for creating music you can escape to.“

One group of spectacular people that we can’t get enough of is Lismore. We absolutely ♥ them with sugar and spice and everything nice sprinkled on top! There are a lot of groups and artitsts that we love, but few that we find we love everything they do. They are like our musical superheroes! They make us want to jump up and down and shimmy all around. Penelope’s vocals are like the warm summer sun that you want to soak in all day long. It’s a lazy (but still busy!) day working from home today, so therefore, there’s only one dj on deck, and thats me!!!! I know its bad, but when I have a song that I absolutely adore, I have to play it over and over again until people want to rip my fingers off so I cant hit the replay button. Since I’m in a super mellow mood though, I’ve been making everyone within earshot listen to Lismore’s cover of 1979 for the past hour:
We can’t wait to check out their live show at Rotture on May 2nd! We will also have a more in depth feature on this dynamic duo in our upcoming issue due to launch June 2008!
